Ikebana exhibition

On 12th June, hubby and I went to see Ikebana exhibition in Akita City. The exhibition was held at a community citizen’s plaza building named ALVE Kyoten Center (ALVE) located in the city. It was the 53rd flower arrangement exhibition sponsored by the Akita branch of Ikenobo headquartered in Kyoto. As many of us know, Ikebana is the art of beautifully arranging cut stems, leaves, and flowers in vases and other containers that evolved in Japan over several centuries. The beauty of a flower arrangement lies in its asymmetrical balance, respect for the individual flower, and harmony with nature as a whole. Ikebana is the representation of the love of nature, tranquility, and perfection.

Ikebana flower arrangement exhibition was held at the first floor plaza named Kirameki Hiroba inside ALVE building. It was held on two consecutive days, that is, on 11th and 12th June. We visited the exhibition venue on the 12th afternoon. We saw that there were about 150 Ikebana flower arrangements exhibited in the plaza. It was wonderful to see so many flower arrangements of various sizes, shapes, and colors that were made by various Ikebana artists from Akita prefecture. We spent a lot of time seeing each one in details. The beautiful Ikebana collection made us smile, relax, and feel peaceful.

Hubby clicked photos of many of the Ikebana flower arrangements exhibited at the plaza hall. Materials like living branches, leaves, grasses, and flower blossoms were used to create expressive Ikebana arrangements. The beauty resulting from various color combinations, natural shapes, and graceful lines was amazing. Please enjoy these wonderful photos of various Ikebana flower arrangements.
